William Schmidt, owner and founder of CareerExcuse.com, started the company in July 2009, after experiencing mass layoffs with many of his co-workers and friends, and helping several with personal job references using my Human resource background, “I discovered that such services could be marketable,”

Initially, we thought of the site as more of a hobby, but that changed as the service gained popularity and recognition. “Over the last three years, CareerExcuse.com has become a trusted expert in guiding people through the job application process, who have specific needs with employment references”

One of CareerExcusess hallmarks is its utility which allows job seekers with long gaps in their resume, fired, or left without notice, which marks them as "ineligible for rehire" stigma which is the death knell for landing the job .
